Treaty No. 9 – 1905 – Abitibi

August 31st

“With the assistance of Mr. Dunn we got a meeting of the Indians convened at 2 p.m. when the purpose of the Commission was carefully explained to them. The Indians were informed that as there were so few of them now at the post, it was not considered advisable to submit the Treaty for their acceptance at this time, but they will be visited early in June of the coming summer both with regard to the treaty and to the reserve which it was proposed to set aside for them. The Indians present agree that it would be better to postpone action in regard to the treaty until a full representation of the band could be obtained.”
