Reach Matagami at ten. Charmingly situated with on a point with arms of the lake flowing north & south. The shores have are well-wooded with Spruce jack pine poplar and white birch. The jack-pine is in this part of the country a very shapely tree & of good growth. Treaty & payments both concluded in afternoon – Miller of HBC interpreting. Treaty signed by Andrew Luke, Joseph Shemkett, Thomas Chicken & James Neveau. Witnesses James Miller Pellon Edgar [illeg] Bunting & Kenneth Ross. Dr Goldie of Toronto has been here for six weeks – which lightens our Doctor’s work considerably.

Chief Elected – Andrew Luke & reserve selected inwards in Grassy River. Make a little

side trip with Miller Goldie & Ross to Sucker lake for pike & pickerel. Feast at six in the open. Roston makes the oration in approved style.
