Welcome to the NAN Treaty Website!

The purpose of the NAN Treaty website is to promote education and awareness to the Ojibway, Oji-Cree, and Cree people of Nishnawbe Aski territory and the general-public about Treaty No. 9 and No. 5.

Treaty No. 5

In 1876, the Commissioners made adhesions to Treaty Five with several groups among the people who signed the Adhesions were the people living at Grand Rapids.

Treaty No. 9

The James Bay Treaty, Treaty No. 9, is one of the numbered treaties signed by Canada with the Ojibway and Cree people in northern Ontario.
